Our Story
Oakwood Cemetery stands as one of Fort Worth’s oldest historic cemetery, preserving the stories of pioneers, leaders, and families who helped shape our city.
Oakwood is the resting place of an eclectic mix of Texas and Fort Worth legends: founding families, cattle barons, mayors, gamblers and gunslingers, educators, confederate soldiers, and bartender and bricklayer union members.
Overlooking the Trinity River and dotted with beautiful oak trees, Oakwood Cemetery offers an impressive view of downtown Fort Worth.
Visitors are welcome to explore Oakwood’s historic grounds, notable graves, and beautiful landscapes throughout the year.

Wreaths Across America

A national day of remembrance dedicated to honoring our nation’s veterans. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and supporters, hundreds of wreaths were donated and placed on the graves of veterans resting at Oakwood.
Oakwood Cemetery is a nationally recognized and Texas Historic Cemetery and nonprofit organization committed to preserving Fort Worth’s rich history. Every donation directly supports the restoration and care of Oakwood’s historic grounds, monuments, and chapel for generations to come.
